VMware Capacity Planning

This presentation is a condensed version of the Metron-Athene training offering which covers Capacity Management in the VMware environment.  The presentation is intended for those who are currently running VMware, and want to improve their Capacity Management capabilities.  The presentation covers architecture concerns, unique VMware challenges, key metrics, reporting, and modeling in VMware environments.

A Discussion on Processor Virtualization - using AIX as an example

This presentation provides an overview of processor virtualization using AIX as an example of that technology.  Topics that will be discussed include:

1.      The relationship between physical processors, processing unit allocations, virtual processors, and processor threads

2.      Configuration guidelines for virtualized processors

3.      Tips on how to improve server utilization in a virtualized environment.

4.      System capacity planning concepts

Cost saving techniques – Group Discussion 

As part of our ongoing “Show and Tell” feature which is presented by one of our members, Rick Pranger of Edward Jones will host a group discussion in which cost-saving ideas that each capacity/performance team has utilized will be shared and explored.
