Speaker: Catherine Liu, President, Applied Expert Systems

Success in today's 24/7 global business environment often hinges on the ability to manage network availability and performance, understand routing patterns, and maintain mission-critical Web sites. In the end it really boils down to one thing:  It's all about performance! Management, Monitoring, Reporting and performance Service Level Objectives will be discussed.  Sample Reports will be used to show how users can use key performance indicators to manage OS/390-based TCP/IP networks and Web applications.

The Dimensions of Service - Exploring WLM's Solution Space

 Speaker:  Rich Olcott, Schering-Plough Corporation

A good map makes it a lot easier to get to where you want to go. This presentation, an expansion of Rich's Mullen-Award-winning effort at the National CMG Conference, offers several "maps" that have proven useful in planning a system's WLM configuration and then tracking its performance.  The new material includes CICS-related topics and a discussion of why you're not getting the Velocities you asked for.

1:00 - 2:00       SLA Management Challenges

Speaker:  Dr. T. Leo Lo, IBM Global Services–Network Service Delivery

Service Level Agreement (SLA) has been around for more than 20 years but there is no universal solution to address this important and often under-estimated requirement. This presentation will review the fundamentals of network SLAs and attempt categorizing various customer SLAs. Some examples are discussed and suggested solutions will be shared.

2:15 - 3:15       Enterprise Web Architecture and Its Performance

Speaker:  Shennon Shen, Plumtree Software, Inc.

Today’s enterprise web technology and architecture implementations can bring significant benefit to the end user.  But this benefit can also come with a cost, depending on the complexity of the architecture implemented, monitoring performance may be a challenge at best.  Shennon’s presentation will be about enterprise web technology and architecture, and how to monitor performance in an enterprise web environment.
