Enabling the Strategy-Focused IT Organization with Balanced Scorecard

Robert Gold, Balanced Scorecard Collaborative

Why is the relationship between IT organizations and the business so often strained? Information Technology often focuses on reducing cost and keeping systems running while the business needs IT to emphasize value creation. To move beyond merely proving their competence, IT managers are using the Balanced Scorecard management framework to speed their organization's progress in becoming a true partner with business units in executing strategy.

Overview of z/OS WebSphere: Understanding the Workload

WebSphere Versions 4.0.1 and the newly announced Version 5 both bring a Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) runtime environment to z/OS, allowing you to now run EJB applications along with web applications (servlets and JSPs). If you want to performance tune your system, it is necessary to understand EJBs and J2EE along with what WebSphere looks like on z/OS, including its use of the infrastructure provided by z/OS (RACF, RRS, HFS,WLM). This presentation also includes a walkthrough on assembling and deploying EJB and web applications into the WAS V4 or V5 runtime.
